History, Nature, Events & Hidden Gems

The Tweed Valley is rich with experiences, offering a blend of outdoor adventure, history, and local culture. Step back in time at Traquair House in Innerleithen, Scotland’s oldest inhabited home, or visit Abbotsford in Melrose, the historic home of Sir Walter Scott.

The vibrant town of Peebles offers independent shops, galleries, and cosy cafés, while Innerleithen charms with its local history and riverside setting. Further beyond, Kelso delights with its historic market and riverside charm, Melrose welcomes visitors with vibrant streets and rich cultural heritage, and Jedburgh offers fascinating heritage sites and a taste of traditional Borders character.

Borders Book Festival hosts more than 100 events in June each year. With the latest fiction, current affairs, history, and politics, along with personalities from sport, music and entertainment, there is something for every age and interest. They also host a range of health and wellbeing sessions to take part in during the festival. Check out their 2026 programme, which takes place from June 11-14th, and purchase tickets here

With rolling hills, tranquil forests, and a warm Borders welcome, the Tweed Valley is full of discoveries at every turn.
